Thanks to everyone who has entered the giveaway. Apologies to all the Russian spammers but I've taken your comments out of consideration. Sorry. Oh and now any comments need a registered user :) (Which as far as I know doesn't bring up the annoying word verification?)

The WINNER of the Giveaway is mumasu! Congratulations! I've sent you an email for more details.

There has been lots going on here the last couple of months. Unfortunately not that much was sewing related :( I was working on a mini quilt for the challenge over at Ellison Lane Quilts but didn't finish it in time. My machine and I were having a big difference of opinion in the way stitches should be sewn. I thought they should be one after the other, in a row, nice and neat. My Machine(on good days I call her Ella) thought she could just do a couple here, one there and skip the rest whenever she wanted.

By the time we had reached a compromise(She would sew nicely and I wouldn't put her out in the rubbish bin), it was too late.

The test mini had trapunto, my first attempt and I'm not sure it was all that successful? The X's stand out much better on the back than the front? And no, I didn't finish off my stitches properly, I had already used up all my patience so I just did a locking stitch and cut the threads (Sorry about the iPhone photos, I seem to have left my camera in a safe spot...somewhere...) It also had a more random look to the X's but a friend mentioned it was driving her head crazy so for the baby quilt I'm making, I skipped the trapunto and I lined them up straight. Which my type-A quilting personality loves!

So Basting was fun.. all three times.

The first time was a red hot mess. Which is what you get when you pin baste and try to play hide-n-seek with a whingy 4 year old at the same time. I do love the square spiral look though, so I'm going to try it again in the future - when the memory has faded.

Lets not even mention the second attempt.

The third time I dissed the pins and went straight for the glue. It lasted well enough. It does not seem to last long on a wool wadding and since I'd already marked lines I couldn't iron it back together.

This time I went for straight wavy lines, not a true serpentine but very forgiving in those cases where you get a sudden cramp in your shoulder and all of a sudden you're sewing at right angles to before. The threats must have worked because she sewed all the lines beautifully.
So Google reader is coming to an end and I've finally got around to changing things up. I'm trying bloglovin and feedly and so far feedly is winning. Since I normally read blogs on my phone I much prefer the feedly layout. However you can follow my blog with bloglovin or by rss feed. Any problems please let me know.

Get ready to get excited everyone because this month I have finished something! And not just one thing but two. Oh yes, two things. First up is my scallop pillow. I adore this pillow and now I finally get to use it. I thought it would be a simple matter to just add a backing with a hidden zipper.
Well it might have been except that I chose a fabric that my machine hated more than anything in the world, but just for the top-stitching, you know, the part that everyone can see! Oh and I carefully sewed down the flap covering the zipper before sewing the back and front together and then forgot to leave the zip open a bit for turning. That was a fun 15 minutes...
Despite all that it now happily resides on the couch in my craft room/guest room/. Along with that blue scarf which is waiting to have the ends sewn in. It's a bit long, I measured when I was sitting down and then added a bit extra for luck and now it touches the ground when I put it around my neck :( I might have to make it into a pillow too.
I'm not that happy with it. Maybe the making stage took too long? It was started over a year ago. I kind of wish I'd chosen softer colours. Grey maybe? I always planned to put it on a canvas to hang in my home(yes, I am that nerdy) but now that its on there I'm really not sure about it. The border seems too wide and it definitely needs a edge/binding to break up all the black. I did make the borders wide on purpose so I had enough to staple and so if I wanted to turn it into a quilted wall-hanging later I could. I might. I'm just not sure. Any suggestions are welcome. For now its just hanging out on my dresser until I decide what to do. Obviously I removed all my <strike>junk </strike>treasured memorabilia before I took this photo ☺ Not sure why both the dresser and the panel look bent? I blame the photographer.
I made a binary code panel for a friend a few years ago(just one word) and loved it. I'd been searching for a word or a phrase for a while and this quilt seemed to have just the right one. For anyone who'd like to know what it says you can go to a translator here and type in all the numbers or just have a look at the link above.

Every Easter I usually try and do some sewing for my God-daughters and Sons. But since my overhaul last month I still haven't managed any quality sewing. Oh I did sew two border seams on the binary code I mentioned last month but that took me the next several days to recover from. And I have fixed some of my Husband's work pants that had split seams or fallen hems but those I pinned whilst standing up and the part I needed to fix was only a couple of inches long. Not fun sewing but at least they're not hanging around making me feel guilty any longer!

So I thought I'd share a couple of sweet little rabbit bags I made last year.
That unfortunately is probably the most exciting bit as there hasn't been a great amount of progress here this month. I haven't been feeling that well and Ella has not been on her best behaviour. She's been skipping stitches all over the place. So we've both been to the doctor to get an overhaul. It's not all bad though, soon Ella will be home and I have had the lovely Faye looking after me the last couple of weeks. But that's it. Everything else is still all plans and daydreams and possibilities. Which is kind of nice, then I can imagine fantastical quilts that I'd like to make. Ones with perfect seams, amazing colours and dazzling quilting. That in my head are a cinch to make and take no time at all.... Maybe I hit my head when I fell over in shock? Anyway, here's hoping this month of March will be more successful!
Do you ever feel like your life is in fast forward? That you blink and 6 months of your life have gone past without anyone consulting you about it? It's seemed like that here the past year or so. Though, once I find out who is responsible, I shall be giving them a stern talking to!

Now apparently it's bad bloggy manners to apologise for absence(of any length) so lets just pretend that we haven't been apart and get back to the irregularly scheduled programme... :)

In the summer school holidays, which have just finished here in Australia :( I was lucky enough to have my annual summer sew in at Faye's house. The "sew in" part being very literal as the boys and I chose the hottest week of the summer to go. Most days were in the high forties. Of course the day we went home a cool change came through and by the time we were an hour from home it was 14°C and raining. Go figure.
I started making it as a Christmas teacher gift, but ran out of time, so sneakily made it for a friend of mine instead, all the while asking her opinion on how I should do it. This scalloped panel managed to get finished also and is destined to be a large pillow. I used a faced appliqué technique, a variety of cotton and linen fabrics and my current favourite colour scheme: navy and pink. (Though Navy and green is vying hard for second place). These scallops are 3.5" across and that pink fabric at the top of the photo is for the back. I hoped to finish it in the linen I used on the front but of course they don't make it anymore and I don't have enough left. I'd love to make a bigger version for my bed, though TH might not like all the pink!

As I haven't yet done my catch up post(oops and it is almost April! Oh the shame...) here is a quick rundown. Last year I began making a quilt out of yellow and orange triangles all cut from scraps I inherited from my Mum. This year while planning Project Half-Done(more on that later) I revisited the quilt, which is called "Happy Days", and decided I needed to make it a couple of rows longer. While cutting out the triangles for that I had some little scraps left over and decided to cut even tinier triangles and make a mini quilt for my ongoing Quall of Fame(a wall covered in mini quilts - miniatures of large ones I've made and others) because its a small version of "Happy Days" I've called it - "A little happy", and because its so small I only used a lowercase h. I didn't think it could handle a capital :)

Now entering an unfinished top is OK by the rules but as I've already started the quilting it feels a bit like I'm showing it to you naked. It is 13.5" x 14" and the triangles are just over 1 ¼" high. You can see my not very good quilting a bit better in the pictures below. I'm hoping to make the stars "pop" a bit, then I'm planning to bind it similar to this quilt here.
I was hoping to finish the large quilt too but I've run out of time so I'll tell a funny(eventually) story instead. When trying to decide on how to quilt the mini I tried putting some clear plastic over the top and drawing on possible designs. It was all going well until, yep, some ninny drew on the fabric. And no, whiteboard markers do not wash out nor do they come out with Metho or anything else I tried. The funny thing is that when I replaced the triangle it took me less than 10 minutes. About 5 times less than I spent trying to get it out in the first place... der.

That means now I've learnt 3 things:

1. Don't trim blocks whilst wearing a scarf with tassels. Unless of course the tassels are much too long and you need them shorter.

2. Headphones don't like being trimmed either.

3. Don't draw on fabric with a whiteboard marker.

I'm a bit over yellow and orange after the DSQ and these so now instead of finishing quilting this like I planned, I'm going over to check out more of the fabulous quilts already linked up. Go and have a look too :)
Remember me?? Well I'm back to share what I've been up to. Complete with poor photos and excessive punctuation! You lucky things :)

I will do a catch up post soon but for now, before I run out of time, I'm entering the Modern Mini Quilt Contest over at Ellison Lane Quilts. By the skin of my teeth I might add, as the linky closes in less than an hour! Eeek! I had grand plans of a super-gorgeous-awe-inspiring quilt I would make using a block that I've redesigned but after much dithering, frustration and indecision I decided to take a step back and let it go. It just wasn't working, so that meant it was time for a new plan! I had a new idea that I was really happy with! Unfortunately by the time I had the good idea, I did not have enough time to make it :(

On to Plan C! I decided to enter my Mini DSQ. Plan C Finishes at 15½ " x 20".

Last year I joined in with the Dead Simple Quilt Along over at Lily's Quilts. You can read more about it here and here. While a bit late to the party as I was trying to finish this, I did put the top together in January(not pics yet sorry!). Then because I've decided to make a "Mini Quall of Fame" (more on that later!) and because I didn't have a big enough area to lay out the big quilt, I decided to make a little one to see how the colours played together and to try out a quilting idea.

Modern Mini Quilt - Quilting texture

Once I put the top together and after quilting I thought it was a bit plain and just needed a little something extra. So I decided to add some little pops of colour in the binding.

Since BB doesn't start school until February, we've taken the opportunity to go on Holidays! Unfortunately there is no internet reception where we are, not even mobile. There was a fire in the area recently so that may be the cause as usually there is at least a limited wi-fi.

So that means I wont be able to see what you are all up to until I get back and catch up :( So if I've won anything (which is totally unlikely) or the Down Under Doll Quilt Swap Starts for 2012 please be patient!

I'm hoping to start or rather finish some things while I'm away but dont worry, I'll be taking some really bad photos to share with you, you lucky things :)
While the nice weather person tried to reassure me earlier that it will be 10 degrees cooler today than the forecast 37c, it's still 30c outside now so I won't hold my breath that it will happen.
For everyone who reads my blog and has started this journey with me, I wish you a happy Christmas. I hope your day, be it hot weather wise or relative wise( you know what I mean ;), is all you could wish for.
Ok it's time I confessed and let the cat out of the bag, or rather, the squirrel! Confused? Well, do you remember the Secret Squirrel Quilt? I actually finished it way back in October, had it quilted in November, popped the binding on a couple of weeks ago and posted it last week!

It has made its way to a very nice lady. She is very important to our family, she is caring, giving, generous, always there for us and we love her very much. Happy Birthday Faye!

Now I did take a few photos before I posted it but the only place I had high enough was under the old verandah and the sun was playing peekaboo with the clouds. So between that, the wind and my photography skills.... and yes it is straight and square, its just the wonky old curtain rod I hung it on that has issues.
I am so happy to finally be able to share this finish, I've been feeling guilty misleading you by posting work I did ages ago. I'm also happy to be able to give this to Faye. A fabulous quilter herself who whilst she makes many quilts for others and quilts a lot of tops through her business, has never( I don't think?) had one given to her. So even though I couldn't give it to her personally on her Birthday I'm very relieved that Australia Post didn't lose it and it got there on time!
I hope 2012 goes a little slower. This week BB and LB have helped me make some gifts for their teachers/carers. We've made some little bags with hand drawn pictures to tuck some chocolates and a kid made Christmas decoration in.
I got BB to draw a picture for each bag. I did ask for a flower and got a landscape, but apparently you can't just have a flower, it needs ground to grow on and then sky above :) So the flowers were a fair bit smaller than I was envisaging but they are very much BB's style and that's the important part. Earlier in the term I had asked him to find out each teachers favourite colour and he helped pick fabric he thought they would like for the lining, I just tried to get him to stick to a small scale print as the bags are only about 6.5" finished.

We've also been keeping small boys amused by making some Christmas trees out of paper. Very simple. We traced different size circles, cut them out, then cut each in half and curled and stapled them. A little mix and match and a bead on top and they <strike>are</strike> will be finished. Ready to be beaded and threaded on a garland later this week.
She has kindly given me a versatile Blogger award!

Now Lucy has such a lovely blog, she makes lovely things(and must never sleep she does so much!), she is beautiful and genuine and friendly so go check her out. This award means she likes to read my blog, which totally made me blush and also means I, um, really need to post a bit more, so that she has something to read! Its on the to-do list for 2012, a list I might add, that is getting longer all the time....

So as per the rules(for the award) I need to share seven things about me:

1. I'm not a good sharer. (I always think of great things to say once its too late)

2. I get quite grumpy if I don't have enough sleep.

3. I used to ride/own a motorbike. (but babies apparently can't hold on around the corners, so I sold it)

4. Quilting makes me happy.

5. If Bones is on TV don't interrupt, or at least wait for an advert!

6. I hate doing the dishes.

7. I seem to buy more fabric than I use, but shhhhh, don't tell TH.

Now the fun part I get to share seven blogs that I've recently discovered

1. A quilt is nice

2. ruby star rising

3. squares and triangles

4. sad patterns

5. blue is bleu

6. B.Yazoo

7. The Shine Project

I love presents, surprise parcels and handmade things, and I love to make things for others(so I don't feel so guilty!).

A blog I follow called Threading My Way recently posted about the Pay It Forward Handmade movement. It sounded like a fun thing to do, so I decided to participate. The concept is easy. If you find a Pay It Forward post AND you blog too AND you are one of the first three commenter's on the blog post that tells you about Pay It Forward, the blog owner will make something especially for you. I am very excited about this idea and wondering what Pam is going to make for me!

**(Pam just in case you are reading this I like white(Kona snow), pink, orange, yellow, green and blue!)

Are you interested in joining Pay It Forward Handmade?

Here are the details:

1. Important! You have to have a blog.

2. I will make a little something for the first 3 blog owners who comment on this post. It will be a surprise and I will make it and send it to you some time during the next 365 days after you have commented. (just don't expect it for Christmas!)

3. Make sure you let me know your email address, or that you arent a no-reply blogger so that I can get your contact details.

4. To get a handmade present from me, you have to play too! This means YOU pledge to send a little handmade something to 3 readers of your blog. It doesn't matter what you give, as long as it is handmade by you!

5. Once you comment here, you need to post about your Pay It Forward on your blog(within 48hrs) to keep the fun going! *you can just copy the rules from me and please include the Pay It Forward badge in your post. Also, feel free to join the Flickr group to see what else is being sent!

6. Follow my blog - I'd like that but you don"t have to :)

My plan is to get to know you through your blogs and comments and flickr to
figure out what would suit your fancy. So make sure to mention your likes,
dislikes, favorites, crafty wishes and upcoming life events on your blog. Ideally, this will help all of us to get to know some fellow bloggers and to spread some handmade joy and cheer around. I am looking forward to reading my first 3 commenters' blogs and deciding what to make you!

See what I mean about the list getting longer!
Well you head off to the paint swatch section of course. Pick out colours that you think match your fabric. Then you take them home, cut them up and play with them!
Ok, ok, it's not little, its HUGE! and its wonderful. It's like going to a great quilt show but without the crowds or the sore feet. Oh and there is no line up at the coffee stand either! Last year I had a great time seeing all the wonderful quilts and this year I'd like to share one of mine.

NB: Some ninny got the date wrong when the Festival closed, so now I'm just sharing not linking :(

I finished this quilt earlier this year, before I started this blog. Its a small quilt 23.5" x 27.5" designed to fit my Goddaughters doll crib.(Sorry about the bad photos, I took the photos on a very cloudy day) This was the third quilt I'd ever made and it was a gift for Christmas 2010 however I only finished and posted it to her at the end of February 2011, that still counts as Christmas right?

I also made a little matching pillowcase to got with it. I tried to match the front and the back of the quilt and the pillow so she could reverse them if she chose.

Doll Quilt Label

Lastly I put a sweet little label on the back. The quilt pattern was a free pattern from the Marcus Fabrics website. I like to think its both modern and timeless(just humour me ok :) ). All the fabric except the pink sparkly fabric was from my stash. The floral print on the back is more like a voile so when Faye quilted it she put a lining fabric underneath and it worked really well.

I loved making it and it was hard to let go of but I'm told she loved it and she and her doll slept with it that night. So totally worth it!

I'm going to the Craft and Quilt Fair today(wish my feet luck!) but the Bloggers' Quilt Festival is also a great way to spend a Sew-Inspiration Sunday!Hitch and Threadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01621667613702567031noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5984175392173694617.post-34180894304772111022011-11-05T22:50:00.000+10:302011-11-05T23:03:25.822+10:30Fake it or Make it?What do you really think about appliqué? Not the design as such but how it's actually done. I don't know about you but I've always had a thing that appliqué, especially on a quilt, needs to be done by hand and be invisible. Any other kind was faking it. I guess it really stems from the fact my Mum used to teach and judge handicrafts and we would always hear her comments about items that were poorly finished, seams not pressed and hand sewing that was visible. All those comments seem to have embedded themselves into my brain and so I've always hand sewn(very carefully!) any appliqué I've done. (TH has mentioned I might be a teeny tiny bit pedantic about it but really, who are you going to believe ;)

But having said that, the first Dresden I appliquéd took me over an hour to finish. Yes, I did have some little interruptions, still that meant even if I could do three a day, it would take me ten days. Two a day, fifteen days. So I had a rethink and a google and then a play on my machine to test out some machine appliqué. I decided to go with a blind hem stitch and just do one and compare, cause you know, I can always unpick! Or frog it? Is that the right term? You know where you rip it, rip it, rip it!

I'm really happy with the result. It took me longer to figure out that I was trying to put the blind hem foot on back to front (It actually took me a fair while to realise this and then I didn't use it anyway) and to stop giggling than it did to do one plate. The thread is one that Faye has given me(Thank you!) and it blends in really well on all the colours and I'm very happy with the results.

Have a look at them side by side. The one on the left is by machine and the right hand one is done by hand. From about 15cm away(less with my eyesight!) you can't tell the difference!

So even though I feel like I'm faking my appliqué, doing it this way means I'll get to actually finish this quilt <strike>in time</strike> this decade. So I guess my answer is I have to fake it to make it!

I did have a couple of other questions though:

Why do I only do wobbly sewing on the parts where it will show?
Why don't sewing machines come with a foot lever for the presser foot, instead of that stupid knee thing?
Why can you only find the pins you've dropped by stepping on them?

If anyone knows the answers please let me know!
Hitch and Threadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01621667613702567031noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5984175392173694617.post-21682026235761915242011-10-18T15:00:00.002+10:302011-10-18T15:00:00.748+10:30Dead Simple Palette - I've definitely, almost certainly, possibly, chosen this one...For the Dead Simple Quilt Along I've chosen(my fickle heart has seen others but I'm being strong!) the Autumn breeze as my palette.

and this is gorgeous but seems more Autumny..

So this one, definitely this one! Oh yeah. We are approaching summer down here(Yuck!) and this seems the most summery to me, so this one it is. I can make it this Summer and have it ready to use by Autumn! Perfect timing. I do love it but those browny yellows might be hard to find. I might have to go and buy more fabric. What a shame :)
Have a google of project modern and you will find heaps of wonderful quilters showing their "voice". I'm still working on finding my quilting voice but think of all those quilts I get to make while I'm deciding. Which is kinda how the rest of this week has been, when the best laid plans, yada, yada yada...

Anyhoo my inspiration this week is from s.o.t.a.k handmade. I found her blog when browsing through the Fresh Sewing Day from Lily's Quilts. ( Thanks Lynne!) She has made some great stuff but what caught my eye is this:

I'm totally in love with it. It is a beautiful modern quilt. Lovely and neutral for a bedroom but with little pops of colour. Perfect! Go and check out this and the other lovely things she makes here.Hitch and Threadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01621667613702567031noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5984175392173694617.post-81122066243578938742011-10-04T10:00:00.001+10:302011-10-04T10:00:00.497+10:30Dead Simple Quilt Along - Choosing a paletteI'm joining in the Dead Simple Quilt Along over at Lily's Quilts and I need to choose my palette. Where has this week gone, for that matter, what happened to September?? I'm sure it must have sneakily skipped a week somewhere.

I've been inspired today by Lynne of Lily's Quilts, her generous hosting of the Small Blog Meet means that I've got to meet lots of other people who have the same interests and who have recently started blogging too. Before I started blogging(instead of just reading) I didn't realise how much of their time it would have taken, not only to write the blog but to take the photos. Though maybe that's 'cause I'm a really bad photo taker and take at least 2 shots of the same thing - just in case! So to all those people who write the blogs I read and follow, Thank You, I really appreciate your effort!

I'm going to link up again this month to hopefully meet some more inspiring people :) If you're here visiting - Hi, nice to meet you!

I'm also doing my first link up to Fresh Sewing Day. If you haven't been yet, pop over to Lily's Quilts and have a look at what everyone has been up to. There is some fantastic stuff to be inspired by.

I think I've been in denial.

I had a think about it and I've decided to make it bigger. Instead of a 4 x 5 layout it's now a 5 x 6 layout. 5 Dresden plates across by 6 plates down. Yep, 10 more and lots more hourglass blocks (darn, just when I thought I'd seen the last of them). Finished size about 70 x 83, still a little short but I'm going to pretend that doesn't matter.

10 More Dresdens and squares

So with a tiny bit of creative cutting - a couple of my wedges are a teeensy bit short - I managed to cut out another 10 plates worth of wedges and enough squares for the hourglass blocks. I've definitely made the most of each fat quarter. I did have a moment of panic though(jumping up and down swearing wildly) where I cut out the first plate squares without any seam allowance. But I took a big deep breath, measured and had just enough for the extra 10, with 2 inches to spare. Phew!!

So you know what I've been doing this week. That's right, <strike>going slightly crazy</strike> spending lots of time with Ella. I'd really like to work on something else for a while but I'm being really strict and telling myself to focus and finish and stop being a wimp.

I know I keep going on about this quilt, it seems to be taking over my life, so next week I'm going to show you some other stuff that is waiting patiently for me to the finish the SS Quilt and show them some love.Hitch and Threadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01621667613702567031noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5984175392173694617.post-77668159673051138942011-09-26T01:02:00.000+09:302011-09-26T01:02:19.776+09:30Sew-Inspiration Sunday or rather, what I've been up to this week. This week I've been a bit flat and a bit sad and a bit procrasinatey(of course it's a word!). Not only have I been trying to get better(with the "help" of two small assistants) but a member of the family passed away. So even though I felt like doing some sort of sewing to take my mind off things, anything colourful seemed wrong and anything with the machine was just too loud. Not that Ella(My Elna) is actually loud, just that the volume in my ears seemed to be turned up all the way.

I have finally managed to finish trimming all the hourglass blocks for the secret squirrel quilt(SS). Which my left elbow is very thankful for. The first hundred weren't too bad but the second hundred took forever....

I eventually had a small brainwave and "borrowed" some Invisi-Grip from another ruler for the 3" square I was using. This meant that I didn't have to use so much pressure to hold it still. I then decided with about 50 left to go, that I really should go and get another rotary cutter as after I dropped mine for the second time the bit that fell off the back was making it really hard to keep the blade protector retracted. I wish I had done that before I even cut the fabric for the Dresden's, 'cause its fantastic! Smooth, sharp, no pressure required and it's not the one pictured above!

I've also been working on the plan/pattern for the Rocketship Quilt for Big Brother(BB). I'm hoping(this doesn't come back to bite me on the...) to finish either for a late November Birthday or Christmas.

It all started back in February when I asked BB what sort of quilt he would like for his new big boy bed. His answer was "a red one". Okay, hmmmmm. Not really much to go on there but one morning(hence the coffee stain) he also mentioned a rocket, so I did a quick sketch for him and its grown from there.
I was initially going to do improvised stars all through the background and I'd made a grid so I could work out the math, then I got BB to colour in the background in the colours he would like.
I ordered all the fabric then the whole thing stalled for a couple of months as I just wasn't happy with it but couldn't figure out why.
After a family colouring afternoon we came up with the rocket above. (Aside from the blue bit down the bottom left which I think is a building?) Then we chose some fabric. The light blue is much more green than in these photos, which I now realise are pretty grey looking. Sorry.

So this week I sat down and simplified the background into pieced strips with appliqued stars, there still looks a lot but there are about 20 less stars than my first idea.

Add the rocket and I hope you get the idea, the finished size will be around 80" x 100", which is pretty big for a single bed but he not only likes to be tightly tucked in, he also likes to bounce on his bed.

Lastly I'd like say I feel so lucky to have 14(!) lovely friends following me and that really does make me feel inspired. Inspired to keep quilting and creating and enjoy sharing with you all. See, look at that, you've gone and cheered me up. Thanks :)

Can't wait to see what you've been doing too!Hitch and Threadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01621667613702567031noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5984175392173694617.post-89218227673447631542011-09-18T21:50:00.000+09:302011-09-18T21:50:51.551+09:30Sew-Inspiration SundayWell another week has flown by with seemingly not much achieved. I've made a couple of potholders, I've done a little work on the secret Squirrel Quilt and I've taken another look at the Rocketship quilt which I'll hopefully get to post about this week. Oh and my iron did a kamikaze leap off the ironing board so I'm training up a new one. I have also managed to acquire a scratchy throat and a stuffy head. The throat I can live with but the the head. Aye! (this is the part where you offer sympathy :) )

Now my inspiration this week comes from Amy at amyalamode.com/blog. She has used a pixelated photo to create this stunning quilt for her Mother. I am loving this idea and I'm also loving the way she quilted it, which you can see better in her closeups. If you go and have a look, check out the photo she started with - so different to the final outcome!

Now I've just realised this is a bit similar to last Sundays post as its very colourful. So sorry but the stuffy head has reigned supreme and said that its okay to do that. Now since I am a newbie blogger I have a question that I'm hoping someone with more experience can help me with. Should I get a flickr account? Is it hard? Will it hurt??Hitch and Threadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01621667613702567031noreply@blogger.com3
